The day I found out I was pregnant, I began devouring every decent mommy video I could find on YouTube. These women were providing a window directly into their real lives with their vlogs. It was so cool! It was an extremely positive way to prepare for parenthood and the reason why YouTube is now probably my favorite version of social media.
Since everyone’s experience was so different, it helped me prepare for both what to expect and the unexpected. It also made me want to try it.
Not only would we have videos to look back on and remember our time raising our daughter, but I loved the idea of helping other new parents navigate the wonderful/scary/messy experience of raising kids.
I’d considered vlogging before with my travel blog, but I had excuses not to do it. One: it always seemed like so much work. Video editing takes a long time, and I preferred writing and the ability to edit and re-edit my words. Two (and probably the main reason): I was scared.
As it turns out, becoming a mom was the key thing I needed to get over my fear of talking on camera.
So without further adieu, I present to you, my first ever day-in-the-life vlog on YouTube. Come hang out with me on YouTube for a half hour while I get a few things done. (And please excuse my messy mom-life hair!)
Vlogging felt both productive and oddly therapeutic for me. It was easier and more fun than I expected, so I’m planning to make motherhood videos a regular thing. I have a few ideas brewing, but I’d love to hear what anyone interested might want to see.
Leave me a comment here or on my YouTube video and tell me what you want to see next!
