We’re so excited to announce the birth of our baby girl, Atlas Rose Norman, born 10 days before her due date on August 29, 2021. Mom’s water broke around 11pm the night before and labor started midday the next day. After a few hours of active labor, Mom pushed for about 20 minutes before Atlas Rose came into this world, crying and full of life. After spending some time with Mom, she warmed up under the warming light with Dad, where she was also weighed and measured.
Atlas is small but mighty, weighing in at 6 lbs 6 oz on her birthday and measuring 19″ long. She has a full head of hair and so far looks a lot like her daddy. We can’t wait to see if her (currently) gray eyes end up brown or blue or somewhere in between. She’s off to a very healthy start, eats heartily, and has already overcome a mild case of jaundice.
So far baby Atlas is easy to soothe, loves breastfeeding and being held, and sleeps well if she’s snugly swaddled. She’s not a fan of hiccups or diaper changes but quickly relaxes once it’s over. She’s using her eyes more and more every day to explore her surroundings. She has many adorable facial expressions and frequently smiles in her sleep.
Mom and Dad are adjusting well to life with a newborn. Dad’s keeping busy with diaper changes and is now a pro at swaddling, and Mom is getting the hang of breastfeeding our eager little feeder. She’s already gained almost one pound on her birth weight.
We’re so in love with our little girl! She’s completely stolen our hearts and continues to do so each and every day.
